Godot Wild Jam #67

This game was developed as a submission to the Godot Wild Jam #67.

Wildcards

This game fulfills the "Gridlock" wildcard, since all movement in the game takes place on a grid. Not much else to say here.

I approached the "RoShamBo" wildcard by by implementing a type system with three types. Magic deals double damage to Melee, Melee to Ranged and Ranged to Magic.

I did not have time to implement the "Silliness Switch" wildcard.

Credits

The font used in the game is Pixel Operator, https://notabug.org/HarvettFox96/ttf-pixeloperator, licensed under Creative Commons Zero.

All sound assets with two exceptions were licensed under Creative Commons Zero from https://opengameart.org/.

All art assets were drawn by me in GIMP or Procreate.

The game was written in Godot.

Known Bugs

  • Sometimes corpses will block movement, other times they won't.
  • Sometimes you will receive healing in-between dungeons.

Developer Comments

For some reason I decided that the game needed 45 character sprites, so making the art took a lot longer than I had initially planned. This caused some other assets to be omitted entirely, such as a town background and battlefields.

In general I had hoped to achieve more with the game, but as is the way of jams, I ran out of time. Still, I am glad that I managed to get it into a playable state before the deadline.

I'll be honest,  not be able to skip through the intro made me not want to play.  I really like the art though!

Love the art style. The characters look amazing and I think the concept of stealing the loot while the rest is busy is really nice. Great idea!

The cutscene in the beginning was amazing and the art looked spectacular! And then the actual game started and I could see what you meant when you said you started by making 45 character sprites…lol. The gameplay is actually pretty fun though. But I think it would be nice to see where a character can attack at the positon that they could possible be put, when the player is dragging them
